Inline bow thruster

No gearbox, no shaft, high efficiency, less maintenance and much less noice

Iskes is the first to install the newly developed Voith Inline bow thruster in a tug. The new bow thruster is fitted in the two new build 80 tons bollard pull ASD tugs 'BRENT' en 'GINGER'. Again Iskes shows the innovative spirit needed to implement new techniques and procedures.

The Inline bow thruster is an axle-free, electrically driven bow thruster consisting of an inner ring propellor and an electromotor integrated in the outer ring. Consequent;y there are hardly any movable parts prone to wear and tear and there are no seals.

The rotor inside the stator is supported by patented, seawater lubricated slide bearings.

The innovative design minimizes noise emissions and it also results in less maintenance as compared to a conventional bow thruster. If required the propellor blades can simply be exchanged individually.
